We’ve booked a couple of acts (including Woodenbox With A Fistful Of Fivers) after 6Music airplay and we’ll definitely miss those “oh wow” moments if it does go.

Well said. For me one of the benefits of a station like 6Music is that it doesn’t have to favour commercial interests over non-commercial music.
One is unlikely to be introduced to experimental music if commercial pressures dictate the playlist, not to mention the exposure for new bands if they get played on 6Music. Bands that would be unlikely to get exposure on other, commercial stations.
