James Summerfield Album Sampler

August 22, 2008

As well as being a nice bloke, James Summerfield is one of the most talented folkies to emerge from Birmingham recently. He headlined our first ever Light House gig back in July, reeling the audience in with his Midwest-infused folk numbers that bring to mind the delicacy of The Jayhawks and the spirit of Will Oldham.

I’ve just stumbled across a sampler for his most recent release Count to Ten and Start Again, over at the rather endearing Commercially Inviable records. If it’s anything to go by, the follow-up to 2006′s excellent Paint the Road should be a real treat.

James will be playing the Moseley Folk Festival next weekend (29th-31st August), which also features sets by Colour comrades Ben Calvert and Richard Burke.

You can download the sampler here and purchase the album here.
